Peer Recovery
Strength In Community, Resilience in Unity
The Reflections Peer Recovery Program is a community-driven initiative dedicated to providing support to individuals as they navigate their path through mental health to wellness. The program is overseen by a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and offers a continuum of care and support through a network of peers. The primary goal of the Reflections community is to create a safe and supportive environment that promotes education and wellness, and ultimately helping individuals maintain their mental health and prevent crisis. By fostering a strong and inclusive community, Reflections aims to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage participation in self-care and wellness activities. Support groups provided by the Reflections program can help bridge the gap between medical treatment and the emotional support needed by individuals.

QPR Suicide Prevention Training
Presented in partnership by the Mental Health Association of Central Florida and FINS (Florida Implementation of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention). This free virtual training provides attendees with the knowledge to help recognize the warning signs of suicide and enact steps for suicide prevention. Each step of QPR– question, persuade, and refer– gives a framework for beginning the conversation, up to helping the individual experiencing suicidal ideation get help. Certificates of completion will be issued to all participants in full attendance. We also offer 3 CEUs; for reference, our certification number is #5290-A.
CRPS Training
Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) training prepares individuals with lived experience in mental health or substance use recovery to professionally support others navigating similar challenges. The training focuses on developing skills in active listening, advocacy, ethics, and recovery-oriented practices to promote hope and empowerment. It also opens pathways to meaningful employment in the behavioral health field while allowing participants to make a positive impact in their communities.
Orientation to WRAP Training
The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Training is an evidence-based program designed to assist individuals in developing personalized strategies for maintaining well-being, managing challenges, and enhancing resilience. Participants gain practical skills in self-awareness, recognizing early warning signs, establishing daily wellness routines, and implementing action plans for periods of stress or crisis. WRAP promotes proactive engagement in personal recovery and well-being, encouraging hope, accountability, and supportive practices.
Our Stories Matter
“Our Stories Matter” is a video series that will cover various topics each month that are focused on how you can use our FREE services to enhance your mental wellbeing.
Grief Support
During this month's "Our Stories Matter" video, we had a chat with our Grief Support Group facilitator, Suzanne Higbie-Long, LMHC in regards to Grief Awareness Day. Suzanne talks about her experience with grief and how people from all over—whether nearby or from across the globe—can join our support groups during a tough time in their life. No one should experience grief alone.
Suicide Prevention Support
Hey everyone! Welcome to today’s episode of Our Stories Matter. We’re thrilled to have Josselyn Dinnan MS, LMHC, QS with us—she’s an attendee of our QPR Suicide Prevention Training at MHACF. She owns Dinnan Therapies LLC, which currently serves the Central Florida population, with a specialization in trauma-informed care. They support individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, stress-related challenges, and complex or difficult-to-treat diagnoses. In addition, they treat a range of other conditions, including borderline personality disorder, ADHD, and more. Today we discussed how this training is not only helpful for those not clinically trained but it is also great for those that are. If you're interested in being part of our QPR Training or any of our other programs, check out mhacf.org/events for all the details. Don’t forget to tune in next month for another episode of Our Stories Matter!
CRPS Training
Hey everyone! Welcome to today’s episode of Our Stories Matter. We’re thrilled to have Lyniesha Harper B.S., CRPS with us—she’s Student of our CRPS training at MHACF. We talk about how this certification qualifies individuals to engage in one-on-one and group peer support, leverage their lived experience as a form of expertise, and likely earn more per hour than peers who lack this credential. If you're interested in being part of the CRPS training or any of our other programs, check out mhacf.org/events for all the details. Don’t forget to tune in next month for another episode of Our Stories Matter!
