Developmentally, the years between childhood and adulthood represent a critical period of transition and significant cognitive, mental, emotional, and social change. While adolescence is a time of tremendous growth and potential, these transitions can lead to mental health challenges that can be associated with an increased risk for suicide. In fact, 1 in 15 high school students reports attempting suicide each year.
In our initiative to combat teen and young adult suicide – we are looking to bring awareness and change to our local Central Florida community. To do this, we need support to build a network of Lifeguards, parents, friends, family members, teachers and more, who are committed to educating, identifying, and preventing instances of suicide attempts.
